Manipulated Images in Santa Fe
Alysse Stepanian launches a monthly series at the Complex in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to feature artists that explore the innovative use of technology and software to manipulate image.The initial program on Friday, February 27 will feature artists and videos by Ethan Bach, Anne Farrell, Merrill Kazanjian, Leslie Raymond & Jason Jay Stevens (Potter-Belmar), and Flame Schon. Admission is free and the event coincides with Frito Friday, an opportunity to socialize at the complex, located at 632 Agua Fria, in Santa Fe.
Sala Diaz last Friday
J-Parr posts photos of last weekend's guerrilla PBL performance at Sala Diaz on emvergeoning.
We projected video and noise from the Big Red Van, towards/at/onto the Sala Diaz art house, while the DJ Brothers Boyd slammed discs on the inside, during one of many events scheduled during John Mata's inhabitance of the Gallery.
Honorable Mention at Fargo Film Festival
The new Potter-Belmar Labs short, Double Thunder, has won honorable mention at this year's Fargo Film Festival, where it will premier. The Festival takes place March 3 through 7th, at the historic Fargo Theater and other locations in and around Fargo and Moorhead, North Dakota.
Out of Context at Say Sí
Potter-Belmar Labs will be performing Live Cinema on stage, in the round, between two large video projections in the Say Sí black box performance space on First Friday from 6-9 pm. Say Sí is located at 1518 S Alamo Street in San Antonio. Admission is free.
This should be a cool installation. We're going to pull out some equipment we haven't used in a while, and keep lots of things going at once. Live multi-channel video and audio processing and mixing at its best. From chaotic to serence and all things in between. We hope you will stop through and check it out.
Also at Say Sí on Friday, the opening of the Out of Context exhibition, in which Say Sí high school media and visual art students focus on recent events and highlight the past year with personal artwork with a focus on the social, political and technological issues that have shaped and defined 2008. Taking their cues from current trends in post-graffiti/street art culture they have created individual observations utilizing both traditional and non-traditional formats and materials: video projections, installations, silk-screens and stencil art.

Potter-Belmar Labs is excited to perform Fortune live on Halloween at the Aurora Picture Show in Houston!
In Fortune, the artists allege to conjure the fortune of the collected spectator-audience and translate the resultant auguries into a performance of Live Cinema. Not to be missed.

Metaphor Public Art
Earlier in the year, Jason worked with a high school class at San Antonio's Fox Academic and Technical High School to create a work of public art, through ArtPace's Semester Program. The students wrote metaphors that captured something personal about their lives, and then worked with Jason to create short videos that illustrate the metaphors.
The result is a collection of videos, collectively titled, "Metaphor," hosted on this website. Cool stuff. Check it out.
